Basic criteria for admission to the College
of Medicine with advanced standing are the following: Completion
of the first and second years of medical school at a US
or Canadian, LCME approved medical school (see http://www.lcme.org/directry.htm
for a listing of these institutions), enrollment in good
standing at that institution, and earning a passing score
on Step 1 of the United States Medical Licensing Examination.
Advanced standing admission will not be granted to students
based on courses completed at a foreign medical school.
The College will not regularly admit a student who has been
dropped from the rolls of another medical school for poor
scholarship or for disciplinary reasons. Applications for
advanced standing must be received not later than June 1
of the year in which the student wishes to enter. See http://www.med.howard.edu/Admissions/advancestanding.htm
for specific procedures.
PROCEDURES FOR ADMISSION WITH ADVANCED STANDING

Students who are
dropped or who withdraw not in good academic standing may
petition for readmission. For information regarding procedures
for requesting readmission, please write to the Assistant Dean
for Student Affairs and Admissions. All petitions for
readmission for the next academic year should be received by
June 1.

The Early Entrance
Medical Education Program shortens the period of professional
training by permitting entrance of selected applicants after
they have completed the third-year of undergraduate school.
Early entrants should apply to the College of Medicine through
AMCAS by December 15 of their junior year.
